Assg 2. Five- to Seven-Minute Documentary with a Local Focus
In this project you will create a 5-7-minute social-issue documentary about a local Butte-area situation or personality. Technical skills covered include camera operation, lighting, sound design, music composition, and more advanced Final Cut Pro skills.

Phases of this Project that will result in both print and media portfolio pieces.
Something due every Monday.
- Proposal - Due October 24th.
- W5 report. In class assignment, October 31.
- Timeline and/or Storyboard -- Due November 7
- Shotlist and interview questions -- Due November 14
- Footage Logged -- Due November 21nd.
- Sound Design and Voiceover, November 28.
- DVD burns and covers, Due at time of your screening.
- Final Screenings, 7th, WOW!!
You wlll also submit a final dossier, with Table of Contents of these assignments in a small 3-ring binder with the title of your video on both the front and on the spine of the binder. Must be submitted by December 12th at time of the exam. Evaluation Criteria here

Minimum requirements for 5-7 minute production.
From content perspective
A clear manifestation of your “well make play” framework, ie
Exposition, Inciting incident (event), 3 – 4 plot escalations (unpacking the event), a penultimate negative moment, The climax, The denoument (summary).
From camera/shooting perspective
2 interviews.
Self expression ie you on camera speaking and visual.
Special Effects
An intro animation of your “production company”.
Bars and Tone
Animation credits (rolling credits okay).
Editing
Composited images
Split Screen
Slowed down footage
Lower screen titles
Transitions may be cuts all the through or occassional fades. Nothing fancy.
Audio
Beginning to end music/voiceover/ sfx.
