Group Presentation

Group Presentation Schedule

Please review this and if your name does not appear, please add it.

Groups will sign up to present on and lead class discussion on the coursepack readings. You will be evaluated on the clarity of your presentation (do you bring out the main points of the article in an understandable way?), the quality of your discussion questions, and your efforts to involve the class. Creative presentations will be judged especially favorably. The group’s outline and discussion questions are due before the presentation.  See this 10-point plan HCI for presentation steps and tips.

Interaction Design Project

Indicate the group project you are affiliated with here:

You may work independently or in small groups. The style and genre of these artistic projects will be determined early in the course and will progress through stages of development and production based upon industry standards. Components of the project will include:

1) Pitches, t/a (gantt) charts, and mind maps;

DUE DATE October 9, 2008. As many as you want per group. (Minimum One.)

Sample pitch. Sample t/a chart. Mind map (just throw ideas at the big postit. There's no "right way" to do this.)

SCHEDULE FOR PITCH PRESENTATIONS -- See listings here.

Each group will get 10 minutes starting from Group 12 and working backwards. Please frame your presentations in the framework of your proposals, that is, Your title, Your logline (blurb), A brief description that should take you about five minutes and then discussion.

Within your description, please make sure you are ready to answer questions about these things:

  • How does your project links to your "passion," using Emily Groom's decription of passion being "something that makes time fly and makes life worth living?"
  • What are your intentions for an experience design? Talk through what will "happen" and how long it should take.
  • What are your influences for the GUI design? (Specifically your recollections from readings/ presentations and other projects with which you are familiar.)

2) Sketches and/or storyboards

DUE DATE October 16, 2008. Each person will submit their individual concept.

In the case of Project OS (Operation Spycam) this will be due on October 23. Each person in the group will submit a separate storyboard based on their portion of the project, as advised by the preliminary conceptual work by the Performers.

3) Design and technical documents

NOTICE. TOPIC FOR DISCUSSION

I would like to suggest that instead of making this a required assignment, I will do a presentation on High Level Design Documentation techniques and you people will use the time toward the production of your working prototypes. If you have already worked towards the creation of a design wiki, you can bundle it into the the print/wiki part of the assignment.

(PROJECT OS PEOPLE will still be submittin individual storyboards on October 23.)

4) Working prototypes DUE DATE November 13, 2008.

Schedule for Prototype Demos and Discussion.

Make sure you also have an information release written for Nov. 13 for your project. This can be based on your proposal, with adjustments for modifications you have made along the way. Only one per group.

Here is a summary of Jane Christmas' advice

5) SHOWCASE and Print/Web Material Nov 27

Each member of the project team will also have an accompanying promotional web site, or wiki/blog, or print piece eg DVD covers or posters. DUE DATE November 27 (and for a week afterwards). The Showcase on November 27 can serve as a user-tesing process if you wish to extend your deadline into December.

Graphic User Interface (GUI) and Design Architecture Critique

NOTICE:

This assignment is now collapsed into a presentation and discussion led by Jason and Michelle on web site evaluation based on their findings from the project topic they have chosen.
